NICOLA PHOTO EXHIBITION x NOWAVEPHOBIA
⎯
[NICOLA X REVERTY] Introduction by NOWAVEPHOBIA
When I watch skaters land ridiculous tricks, they look like warriors fighting against the never ending gravity pull from earth.
One mistake can lead to a deadly blow, but they step over their nerves to try tens, hundreds and thousands of times before they land a trick.
Once you see the whole process, you can’t help but become a fan. But these amazing warriors have so many enemies.
Wherever they go, even at their local spots, hecklers appear.
They pin down no skateboarding signs and throw constant abuse. Some even attempt physical abuse with water,
flower pots and good old fists. But the mighty warriors never give-up and protect their spot by stomping their tricks.
Skate warriors defending their city from monsters.
When Nicola showed me his skate photos from all over the world,
I imagined all those hecklers as monsters and filled the photos in my own way.
I did my best to create proper evil monsters who can beat down the skaters.
But in the end... the monsters never win... However I try...
